Welcome to our first Bootcamp to discuss how to build a microservice using Catalyst, Zoho's serverless platform.
These Bootcamps aim to help you and your peers learn to build serverless solutions together. Not only is it space for you to understand Catalyst better and to drive your businesses, it is also an avenue to connect with like-minded Zoho users in this niche area! These sessions are two hours long and employ use-case based discussions.
Use Case
To understand how Catalyst enables your business, let's look at a use-case.
Zylker Technologies is a mid-level software consultation partner. They use the Zendesk portal to handle customer tickets. Every day, hundreds of users post their comments in the private Slack channel. These include assisting requests, feature recommendations, and suggestions. John, a support representative, is tasked with going through all these recommendations and creating tickets for each issue or suggestion raised. John wastes more than five billable hours every week on these manual tasks. He's looking for a process to automate these efforts, and Catalyst does the trick!
These are three portals involved in this scenario - the Slack channel, Catalyst functions, and Zendesk. Slack messages are passed to the Advanced IO function, in which an API call is made to the Zia sentiment analysis API. The resultant response and 'confidence level' is used to evaluate whether the message is negative. If it's a negative message, it will be pushed to Zendesk as a ticket, or else it will be ignored.
Go ahead and register if you
- are keen to learn all about serverless development.
- want to upgrade your application to a serverless system.
Zoho's Catalyst comes with a host of other features that we'll cover over the course of these Bootcamps. Catalyst is hosted on Zoho's reliable platform that handles 100+ applications, with more than three new applications deployed globally every year. In addition, Catalyst is a pro-code platform, which means that you bring your own code. Currently, Catalyst supports Java and Nodejs. The full stack serverless offerings of Catalyst also lists WebClient hosting, caching, and backend services like FileStore and DataStore to create an end-to-end application.
Note: These Bootcamps are still new, and we're trying to reach and help as many enthusiasts as possible. Know someone who would find this useful? Feel free to spread the word in your network!
